READERS SPEAK OUT AND THEY WANT MORE LEATHERDALE: (Updated on Feb. 12, 2009) Unbelievable! That is the only word I can use to describe the overwhelming response to my new website, lindaleatherdale.com Since being shown the door at the Toronto Sun on my birthday on Dec. 16, loyal readers have wondered what happened to me and where they can now read me. Thanks to a technological revolution - where more and more are seeking their daily fix of news and trusted financial advice via the Net - it was easy to find me. And find me they did. They've been pouring in, and they continue to: Here are some of the latest comments" "Linda, I have been searching for your articles on the Toronto Sun with no success. Now I find that you have left. You should know that the main reson that I read the paper was to read your articles. You will be missed, but I can always come here and read your daily commentary. A loyal reader, Catharine Jennings. "Hi Linda, My husband and I are huge fans of you and miss reading your articles in the Money Section of The Sun. We wish you and your daughter all the best in your new beginning! I can't believe that I can't read your articles with my weekend paper. I love your outspoken, honest opinions about what is happening in the financial world. I would love to hear an update from you on this world economic crisis. I hope your next book is about exactly that. We love Linda Leatherdale in our house. Suzanne and John Lavalley".
"Hey Linda: There you are girl! I was wondering what happened to you! The only reason I would go on Canoe's website was to read what you were up to now! I was getting concerned because I hadn't seen anything new since last year...and now I know why! Glad to find you again. i searched your name on Canoe's search and your site was the top find. Keep up the great work! Mike." "Hello Linda: Just found out today that you were no longer with The Sun. Now it makes even less sense to buy that paper. My wife and I have enjoyed your financial input. Probably from the first time you put forth a column we found the information to be most helpful and much of the information you offered in most cases came true. I was going to ask you about tax free bank accounts, but I see you have already answered that question (Go to Linda Answers Your Questions.) Much thanks for that. One other comment. I recall you saying that it is important to know what your expenses are each month if you ever hope tokeep your head above water in today's world. I have been retired now for three eyars, so wtih extra time on my hands I keep a detailed record of all our expenses right down to the penny. What a revelation. Everyone should do this and they will be in shock as to where the money goes. Keep up the good work, Linda. We will keep checking your site for more valuable information. Bryan and Margaret Reddon"

Sam Pupo We all We all wish you and your loved ones a great new beginning full of love, happiness and prosperity.
May you be abundantly blessed in every manner.
Cheers Josephine Here are some of the latest, Here's what some have to say: "It's great to see you here, Linda! I have enjoyed your work so much and I'll look forward to reading your articles here. (Perhaps I should tell the Sun that I no longer have a reason to buy their paper if I can't flip through it to your column. Tis true!)
Keep up the good work!"Dawn M "I was worried when I couldn't find your column at the Sun and saw they had taken you off their list of columnists. I find it increasingly difficult to trust the media these days. I feel the articles I read are not completely honest about the financial picture at the moment. So, I hope you will continue to be a voice of reason out there. You have a lot of fans!" Joyce (Who works for a large Bay Street firm) |
"Linda I was sorry to find out you were not writing for the Sun any more, I just thought you were on vacation like the other times until I saw an article on Canada Am. You are the voice of the regular people and have helped so many. I have tried to pay off our debt and teach my kids about money and thanks to you we have survived death, injury and job loss, cancer and we are still here. You gave us hope and advice. Looking forward to seeing what is next from you." Cindy Lund "I miss all the good articles that you wrote up in the Sun. Even though I did not like the Sun I used the Internet to read your columns.
You always called a spade a spade and helped many people over the past with your interesting articles.
Keep up the good work. Thanks."
Arnie Neal "I was shocked to hear of your recent layoff. You would think that in tough economic times, your role in particular would be an important one to the paper. After all, consumers that are struggling in today's market will generally turn to their trusted money/personal finance columnist for advice.
But it sounds like this layoff has simply opened the door to opportunity for you. I wish you everything of the best as you embark on your new adventure.
Warm regards."Jodi "Happy new year. One door closes the other opens and with your energy I see you blowing open many doors with no editors telling you what you have to delete. If you ever need me let me know." Cheers, Pat. "I was sorry to hear about your layoff as I always enjoyed your columns. All the best in your continued success and I hope you work at developing this site so you can continue to help so many people who are facing the same tough times.
No doubt a new career will evolve from this base.
Good luck, and may 2009 turn out to be the best year ever, as you set off in new directions."
